Connie-It'za Beach!

I was "revisiting" some of the original Sweet Pea images and came across one of
my favorites from Plate #5 which I have labeled
"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!"
You can check this great plate of stamps out
HERE

My card is a simple, just-plain FUN card as you can see.
I began with a yellow base and cut some blue Bazzill Basics with specialty scissors to imitate waves.
I layered some sandpaper at the bottom for my "beach" cut with another specialty scissors.
Then I cut a wavy strip of  brown paper scrap for my palm tree and added some tropical leaf brads.
I think I got the palm tree a little on the small side but hope you see the {big picture} here?
I stamped the Beach Girl and colored her with Copic markers and being the
lazy stamper that I am, I did not cut her out fully, but rather left her on a white background.
I justified this to myself by thinking she would stand out more on white than cut out.....not sure
if that flies, but it sounded good to me at the time.
I stamped the verse that comes with this plate in the upper right corner with
Tuxedo black by Memento.
I love the perky lines of this Sweet Pea image and there are more girls on the
same plate as well!

Molly

I am so anxious for some lovely weather and SPRING! Yesterday we had a snow storm, YES a snow storm all day. I was determined to pretend it was Spring and pulled out my first Sweet Pea Stamps love - The Gumdrop Gang.

What could be more Spring like than Molly with a bouquet of flowers and white patent shoes?

Beauty in the eyes

I love the beautiful face of this woman. This stamp comes from a wonderful set designed by artist ching chou kuik sheet #14 (Plate 43) of the Fantasy Art collection. I wanted to make the face stand out by using a strong black and white background for this card and using very subtle color on the face.

The face is colored using light copic markers and has been mounted using pop dots. The flowers are mounted with thick buttons in the center of them. There are several other stunning faces on this sheet of wonderful stamps.

Have a wonderful day!

A Name Tag and a Kitty Ride

Hello! Earlier this year I made name tags for myself and the other ladies I work with using stamped images. I work at a school and one of the students asked me to make her one, too. I had actually forgotten about it, but she reminded me today and as she is a 6th grader and getting ready to move on to Middle School next year I thought I would surprise her with it tomorrow. It is very simple - just the stamped image (one of the fabulous images by ching-chou kuik) cut out and mounted on colored card stock, with her name written on the bottom. I did add lots of sparkle!

The Details:
Stamp: ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection (sheet 14, Plate 43) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Classic Yellow Green (Prism), White (Paper Trey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Copics:
Skin: R00,E00,E11,E13,RV10
Hair: V000,V01,V04
Roses and Background: Y02,Y08,V01,YG00,YG03,YG25,YG17
Misc: Diamond Stickles, Sakura Clear Stardust Gel Pen

The next card also uses an image from ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection. This one is called Fly Dandelions and I loved this image so much as soon as I saw it! The beautiful fairy holding onto the sweet kitty, surrounded by dandelions just makes me smile!

The Details:
Stamp: Fly Dandelions - ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Collection (sheet 13, Plate 42) - Sweet Pea Stamps
Paper: Koshi - Basic Grey, Orchid Opulence, Basic Black (SU), White (Paper Trey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Cat: W0,W1,W3,W5,W8,V04,V06,V09

Misc: Stardust Stickles, Ribbon (Offray), Brad (Basic Grey)

Inner Tender

Today I am here to share with you a card I created using Inner Tender (ching-chou kuiks fantasy art collection sheet #13, Plate #42 at Sweet Pea Stamps.
Here is a close up of the colored image. I was so afraid to color this image because of the cat. Animals are not one of the easiest thing to color. But after I was finished I was impressed even with myself. This image is just beautiful.

Here is a side view to show the dimension.

I hope you like her!! I colored the flowers with my copics to match my paper and colored image!! Oh what you can do with copics!!

Supplies Used:

Ink: Memento in black and brown
Paper: DP- K&Company, CS American Crafts
Accessories: Prima Flowers, gold jewel bling, Nesties label dies, Organdy golde ribbon, foam tape

COPICS:
Skin: E000,E00,E50,E11,RV21,R20,E04
Hair: E50,E51,E53
Clothes: E18,E17,E19,E33, Sakura Clear Star pen
Cat: E37,E18,E35,E33,E30,E40,Y26, black Multiliner,W7,C3 (nose)

Simple Notecard & Copic tutorial

Stamp: Ching-Chou Kuik's "Dark Royalty", Plate #21

This is a tutorial for some fast note cards. It is fun to use this layout, with several different images and create a notecard set for gifting! The nice thing is you don't have to color the entire image. Also, you can use other shaped punches. While I was at it, I thought I'd throw a mini Copic hair tutorial in as well.

TUTORIAL:

{Click any pics for a larger view}

First, select a punch. Here, I am using the Marvy Heart Mega (pink) punch.

I use a punched piece of card stock to decide my heart placement....

I then take my punched out heart shape and trace around the area I want to color. I leave a little extra space...

Now, I'm ready to color.

The first color I laid down was V15, a medium purple.....

Next, I blended out the V15 with V12, be careful not to go over your V15 too much, else you will lighten up your V15....

Next I filled in the white areas with BV0000 and BV000....

Go back with your V15 and V12 and add back in some darker/shaded areas. If you compare the picture above and the picture below, you will see it is darker around her roots, around the nape of her neck, etc...

You all know how much I love to add crazy colors to the hair. Here I added some YG03...

With a very light hand, I then blended out the edges of YG03 with YG21...

My favorite skin combo is E50 & E51. Here you can see where I laid down the two colors. I will then go back over with E50 again to blend them....

Here is the end result...

I also added some Sakura Gelly Roll in Clear Stardust to the hair.

Now you need to trim off the bottom, so it will fit in your punch. Punch out. And, you are ready to finish your card!

Have fun! Feel free to ask questions in the comments!

Inner Tender

I absolutely love the image Inner Tender from the ching-chou kuik Fantasy Art Collection. When Connie shared what she created with it here I loved it even more. However, I will admit to being a bit nervous to create and share since Connie's was so fabulous.

As you can see, I went an entirely different color direction. It was super fun to work with and a blast to color. I was concerned that the cat might not turn out well. The image makes it turn out PERFECT no matter how you color! Trust me on this one ;).

Keep sending your creations for out customer submission week on the blog. I LOVE seeing how everyone is creating and using the Sweet Pea Stamps!

You are grrrrreat!

Yesterday I managed to finish a card using Inner tender from sheet 13 plate #42. As soon as I saw this image I knew I wanted to use this paper I had. I often like to use simple sketches with my Sweet Pea stamps as I want the images to be the focal point.

The whole image is coloured with promarkers in different brown shades. This is the first time I've coloured in the background as well. I also used a glittery pen on her bodice and in her hair. The wings are just shadowed with grey/beige.
Browns are not my fav colour to use, but I think the card turned out quite well. I also managed to use some fibers I've had for years that accentuate the colours.

Thanks for stopping by.

Connie-Sweet Pea Cameo

My card today uses an image from plate #43 by ching-chou kuik
which you can find HERE

The background is a wax paper resist on glossy card stock and I used
a K-Pad for ink and Spellbinders die "Doodle Parts" for flourish embelly,
Krylon gold leaf pen for edging, Copic markers for coloring, Prima flowers with
Momenta gem centers, black organdy ribbon and
a rub-on by K & Co for the corner with some teeny gems.

I really like this plate with all the flourishes and frames and
think you will as well!
Thanks for looking.

Paper Piecing with Thumbelina

Stamp: Sweet Pea Stamps - Elaine Cox's "Thumbelina", Plate #46

For this card I used a technique called 'paper piecing'. I stamped the image several times on patterned paper and then cut out pieces and layered them.

I only used ONE Copic marker on this project. E70 for a little shadowing. And, a Spica glitter pen in Sand. The rest is all paper!!

Puppet Angel in the Circus

This beautiful stamp comes from ching chou kuik's fantasy art collection plate #33, called Puppet Angel in the Circus. I used a color combination of browns to complete this card with copic markers with a mute color of grey in the background. I love the look of this stamp. I added the saying that comes on plate #28.

I added a small accent off to the left by using a border punch made by EK Success and added some bling to that. This sheet can be colored in so many different ways, you should look at the other samples that the design team has made with this sheet.

Cheers, Holley
